This Autumn has been BLAH. Since the start of October I’ve been feeling run down and not very energetic at all. My throat’s been somewhat scratchy and I have constantly felt like I’m coming down with something. My mood, however, has been alright. We’ve been super busy, going away almost every single weekend so I think that is a huge part of feeling so tired – I’m not getting any real rest!
This past weekend was really nice, I cancelled our plans to go to Birmingham to see the Smashing Pumpkins 🙁 but it was worth it. I sorted out the food shop online so it would be delivered Friday night and then I did not leave the house ALL WEEKEND. It was the nicest weekend I’ve had in months! I slept 12 hours Friday and Saturday night, played Dragon Age 2 and WoW and watched a bit of telly.
Lush.
I have plans this weekend to cook Thanksgiving dinner for Hubby, who has been begging for it for a month! I’m even doing pumpkin pie and have a frozen turkey crown in the freezer waiting.
On the old weight loss front things are frustrating once again. For a month after we came back from holiday I lost about 2lbs every week. Then it all decided to come back on, even though I was still eating normally. The only change was with exercise and with feeling so run down, I had to take a week off. I still haven’t returned to my normal schedule and I’m sure that’s the reason for my lack of progress.
I love Curves, I think it’s a great place to go and everyone is really nice and supportive and it’s great… but (you knew there was a but coming!)… there is a distinct lack of cardio in the Curves programme which is no good. I know I personally need to do cardio if I want proper results and to become healthier. Curves is brilliant to keep strength training part of your regime, but you need cardio too to see results.
So this week I’m focusing on getting more cardio and still getting to Curves for some ST action and doing my abs classes. Last night I did an old Ministry of Sound DVD for an hour and I loved every second of it. It was the first time I’ve ever been able to do a whole abs section on a DVD – special planks and all! – and that’s all due to the abs classes I’ve been doing this year. Definitely a non-scale victory for me.
Tonight it’s Couch 2 5K, starting from scratch again as it’s been over a year since I’ve done any running!
I’ve done a great job this year keeping myself from getting depressed, but things are starting to get to me. Pressure is mounting with work and personal stuff. Most days I wish I could just quit my job and take my time finding something else, but unfortunately that’s not a luxury I can afford.
I’m glad Christmas is almost here, I need something cheerful to perk me up and for Hubby to get me something nice and thoughtful (hint hint!) 😉
