Bye Bye, Rut!

You might have noticed that I’ve been in a bit of a rut for the last few months. No? I did pretty good at hiding it maybe, but it was wearing away at me.

Well I’ve moved through it mostly and with some changes to help me get back on track, I’m feeling a little bit better now.

I’ve been out cycling twice now and am enjoying it immensely, but can’t wait for it to get easier. That will come with time and practice. It’s something that actually gets me out of bed at 6am so that I can enjoy the early morning when everything is quiet, before the world wakes up. Just me, a few dog walkers and runners, a few other cyclists and not much else. I have music on to help push me through, but mostly am not even listening to it, just focusing on my surroundings and how nice the world is when you aren’t worrying about having to be somewhere.

It makes me appreciate things and put things into perspective. Just like watching the sun rise over the ocean, all the small, insignificant things fade away and you understand what’s really important for a little while.

But I digress.

I’m hopeful that in 2 months time I will be on a beach and watching quiet sunrises, forgetting about all the insignificant things and that is motivating me. Because 2 months is exactly the right amount of time to get a round of Insanity in before holiday. Nothing like the thought of wearing a swimsuit to get you to work out right? 🙂

I’m actually using my new calendar I designed to help keep track of my goals and plan my workouts. For August my goals were set, then changed today:

  1. Cycle 3x/wk
  2. Fruit everyday
  3. Strength 3x/wk Insanity 6x/wk
  4. Portion control
  5. Water

So for the next two weeks I’m doing something Every. Single. Day.  Then I’ve scheduled in a total rest day for the last 2 weeks of the month so I can cope.

The August Plan

I reckon September will probably look very similar…
