So much has been going on that I didn’t even realise I’ve been neglecting my poor site and not updating. So since my last post I’ve been to London Film & Comic Con, ran my first ever 5K in Isle of Wight, had my 5 year wedding anniversary and gone to my first ever music festival. Shall we start at the beginning?
London Film & Comic Con
LFCC was, as usual, a brilliant event. I think it’s the perfect size – it’s not huge which is nice for me. I hate crowds and lots of people around, which means I shouldn’t be going to events EVER, really. Oh well. If I didn’t go to these things I wouldn’t be able to drool over all the hottie sci-fi celebrities that are there.
This year I met Ben Browder, Katee Sackhoff, Tyson Houseman, William Shatner, Kristanna Loken, Matthew Lewis and David Nykl.
Yes you read that right. THE William Shatner. How cool is that?
5K Race For Life
Oh man, this was fun. We trekked to Isle of Wight on the Saturday and after finally finding our hotel collapsed in a heap. The next morning when we got up it was absolutely pissing it down. I definitely wasn’t looking forward to it!! The lady at reception when we had checked in had informed us the playing field where the race is held was only a “5 minute walk” away. She must walk 20 times faster than I run then, as it was ages away! 30 minutes at best. After a little bit of debate on the way there, and stopping to ask for directions, we managed to arrive.
Now, thankfully it had stopped raining! But mind you, we were running in a field. A now soggy, muddy field. After all the warm ups and getting everyone organised the race started. I was in the joggers section and managed to jog a very good bit of it at the start, probably the whole first kilometer at least. Then I started walking a bit and jogging at intervals. I had my shuffle on so thankfully was being motivated by music.
About half way through my feet fell asleep. The right always goes first and for a long while (it felt that way anyway) it was nearly completely numb! So I didn’t run at all during that time, it was scary. Then I ran a bit of the last 2K, not as much as I’d have liked but I was TIRED.
I did finish strong and ran the end bit as soon as the finish line came into view. My time was 45:25.
Anniversary
Hubby and I have been married 5 years as of August 13th. It’s been a very fast 5 years and a long 5 years all at once, but that’s how it goes isn’t it! I do have the best Hubby ever as he thoroughly embarrassed me at work. I got a huge box full of balloons with vouchers for a hot air balloon ride! and a dozen red roses. It was all very lush and I am so spoiled! We cooked that night and watched films then went out the Saturday to our fave restaurant in Bath, Las Iguanas, and to the cinema.
V Festival
Last weekend I attended my very first festival. I went with a work colleague and a big group of her friends. Although the music at V isn’t all to my taste, a lot of it is pop/hip-hop stuff that I’m not into, it was a brilliant weekend and I had a blast.
I managed to see (in no particular order) Kings of Leon, Faithless, The Kooks, Paolo Nutini, Florence and The Machine, White Lies, Scouting for Girls, Paloma Faith, The Magic Numbers, Daisy Dares You, The Pretty Reckless, The Prodigy, Plan B and Kate Nash.
I’d probably go again, my annoyance with these things is you have to buy the tickets so far in advance and way before the line ups are announced! I would love, love, love to go to Reading Festival, that is much more my scene music wise.
Some people are trying to get me to go to Glastonbury next year, which I’d love to do so we’ll see! I’ve registered and everything, just need to find willing people to go with now.
In 2 weeks we are going on holiday, which is much needed after the incredibly busy summer and a lot of stress at work for both me and especially Hubby. We don’t know where exactly we are going yet but will be booking something this weekend.
That will hopefully make for a quiet September and mostly quiet October before the stream of concerts I’m attending this Nov/Dec starts.
I’m seeing Band of Skulls in October, Paramore, Marina & The Diamonds and 30 Seconds to Mars in November and then You Me At Six in December!
And that is what I’ve been up to all summer!
xoxo
