Breads, cakes and soups, oh my!

I know I’ve mentioned it before, but I love Autumn. This year I want to cook and bake more. Specifically, I want to make more foods from scratch. I know that it’s healthier when you know exactly what goes into your food and it also makes you appreciate it more.

I’d love to bake my own bread,  cakes (which I’m not bad at already, just need a bit more practice) and make soups. I’d love to start making my own oatmeal, so that I can flavour it the way I fancy from day to day. There are so many things I want to do!

It would also probably save a bit of money (which I could always do with).

Autumn is the best time for it, when it starts cooling off and you want to stay inside, especially when it’s rainy and windy out. And cooking and baking make the house smell delicious.

I remember when I was little my mom used to make peanut butter, mayo and other things herself. I want to become a goddess of domesticity like that.

I bet it will help reduce my carbon footprint, too. I try to be aware of what I’m doing to the environment. The thing is, I know I could be doing a lot more and I need to make more of an effort. It’s difficult when the people around you don’t care as much as you do, but I’m done worrying about them and am going to start doing what I think is right.

In other news, I went to the gym tonight. It felt good and I missed it. Thankfully things are calming down now and I can go back to focusing on exercise and being healthy!
