Preparation is key

I’ve learned something this year. Something important.

Preparation is key.

The intensely stressful times I’ve had this year could possibly have been avoided, if I’d known to prepare for them appropriately. Well, I know now!

The next few months will be intense, stressful and a little bit crazy for me at work. So there are plans set in place to ensure that I’m focused on what I need to be doing. Outside of work I’m also planning and preparing so that I don’t let that craziness and stress become too much. Earlier this year I let stress affect me so much I had one of the worst episodes of depression I can remember in the past few years. I’m determined to not let that happen again.

So I’m planning for my health and well being! What am I planning exactly?

  • Meal plans each week of healthy meals so I don’t choose food emotionally and leave it to chance.
  • Becoming a morning person (hah!) and working out every morning before work. It always leaves me feeling more energised and happier throughout the day and I know it’s done then. I’ll be able to come home and relax, not worry about having to work out or stress out if I’m too tired.
  • Fun things to look forward to – like Paris at the end of October and time off over Christmas.

Planning all the healthy food and making sure I get my workouts in each morning will allow me to not worry about what I’m eating and if I’m working out. It will also help my stress levels, working out every day will help me feel better and cope with the busy next few months and I’ll feel more confident knowing I’m working towards that Christmas dress goal!

I booked a weekend away in Paris today, FINALLY! We were supposed to go years ago but I was too sick to go and we cancelled last minute. I was heartbroken! But we’ve finally got it booked again and it’s only for a weekend but it’s in the middle of all the craziness, probably when I’ll need a break the most so it’s something to look forward to and gives me a chance to chill out and spend some time with Hubby in the most romantic city in the world!

I’m not overwhelmed by the work, it’s going to be a nice challenge and I’m looking forward to it and preparing for the stress and knowing how I can combat it is really helping.

And who knows, maybe I’ll actually become a morning person?

Yeah, right 🙂
