Geek Fangirl Alert!

This month has been insane and it’s only the 11th!

We saw Foo Fighters in Milton Keynes on the 3rd and, as per usual, they were AMAZING. I love seeing them live, they always, always, always put on an amazing show and you’re surrounded by people who love them just as much as you do and it’s just an incredible feeling. <3

The supporting acts were pretty good, too. The Hot Rats, who I’d never heard of, were okay… they did a lot of covers which suggests they don’t have many of their own songs yet! ๐Ÿ˜‰ Jimmy Eat World were good, I was really looking forward to them! Since then I’ve not stopped listening to them. They remind me of times before I moved here. ๐Ÿ™‚ Biffy Clyro were the last supporting band and I’m not a huge fan of them if I’m honest. Their stuff is okay, but I think most of the time I’d rather give them a miss, but that’s just me.

Hubby and I had the 4th off work, mostly to recover from Foos – we didn’t get home until 2am! It was such a lush day, we didn’t do much and it was very chill. I could use 100 days like that.

Last week I had a staff event that I had to attend. Surprisingly it wasn’t bad! I never look forward to these things, but I had a good time. We were in Bath, on a boat. We had a drinks and a meal then a 2 hour cruise down the River Avon. It was really nice weather, thankfully.

Then Saturday saw us off to London for the London Film & Comic Con!!!!!!

This year we didn’t go both days and didn’t stay over in London so it was a very early start. I was up at 4:45am to get ready and we were on the train at 6.25am and enroute to London.

We got to Earls Court 2 just after 8 and it was already the longest queue I’ve ever experienced there!

There were loads of great guests, but I only met 3: Mark Sheppard, Brent Spiner and Karen Gillan. I kind of wished I had gone on the Sunday as well; I would have loved to meet Alex Kingston!

Mark was my favourite of the day. He is in pretty much everything imaginable and I just love him. When I got his autograph he made fun of my name, but I totally forgive him because, well, he’s just so darn cute! ๐Ÿ™‚

Brent Spiner

Brent was also a big highlight. Hubby is a huge Star Trek fan (not quite a Trekkie…) and his nickname for most things is usually Data, so it was really cool for both of us to meet Brent! He’s so funny and nice! He didn’t make fun of my name, n fact, he said it was lovely! ๐Ÿ™‚

Now… with me not actually being British I’m not really a huge Doctor Who fan. The last Doctor (played by David Tennant) get me somewhat interested, but did not hold my interest for more than 1 or 2 episodes. However, Matt Smith? Well he’s a whole different kettle of fish. I love him as the Doctor and I love Amy Pond (played by Karen Gillan). She was the busiest guest by far and even with all the rushing she had to do she was super nice. And my gosh, she is TALL!

We ended up having to stay a bit late waiting on photos to return so didn’t leave until nearly 6:30pm but still made our 7:30pm train. It was a very long, rushed day as there were loads of clashes with the photos/talks we had. Not the best organised event we’ve been to, but maybe that’s due to not attending both days. Parts of it were a nightmare and we weren’t impressed with the stalls at all (no American goodies!!!!), but overall it was good.

I also had some really great news this past week: my dad is coming to the UK for work and taking a week off to come see me!! I’m super happy and excited to see him, it’s been a year and a half since I was in the States last and with all the not so great feelings I’ve been having lately, seeing him will cheer me up and, of course, make me miss him more when he goes but that’s how it works unfortunately!

It gives me something really great to focus on before holiday, which is 10 weeks away!! And I have a 10 week challenge I’ve prepared to get ready for it, but more on that later ๐Ÿ™‚
