I’ve learned to never worry too much if plans (or I) fall apart. Monday night, in the last hours of freedom before returning to work Tuesday, I literally fell. Slipped on the stairs at home and down I went!
Thankfully I’m fine, I managed to get up with a couple of swollen bits and some bruises and that was it. It just meant that my intentions of starting Insanity Max:30 this week were thwarted! Best laid plans and all that. The good news is my back is starting to heal slowly and it isn’t stopping me doing anything currently so next week I should be absolutely fine to start!
I’m also going to start hiking up the hills in the surrounding area. My new hiking boots arrived today and I need to get used to them because now I’m going to be in training mode because my first active plan of the year is in March!
I’m going to be hiking up Slieve Donard in Northern Ireland, just for fun! It’s doable in a day so I figured why not? It gives me an opportunity to spend a weekend in Belfast with a friend and then he’ll hike up with me as well, in case I fall or something (pretty likely knowing me).
To keep the momentum and give me (and hubby) something to work towards, I’ve signed us up for Walking Out of Darkness again this year. So we’ll be trekking 10 miles across London to raise money for Mind, the mental health charity. I’ll be doing a few more posts about this in the coming months to help raise awareness. If you’d like to donate and support my craziness (haha) feel free to do so here. Every bit is appreciated and helps Mind support people dealing with mental illness.
And for some more fun the bestie and I are doing The Color Run in Brighton in September! So my goal of doing a 5k will be vibrantly met. I’ve been wanting to do one of these for a while, so I’m pretty happy I’ve signed up this year and get to do it with the BFF – if she doesn’t chicken out like she did at the last 5k we signed up too! 😉 I’m raising funds for the NSPCC for this run, so again feel free to donate if you’d like.
So all in all a pretty good and active year to keep me motivated and help reach my goals.
Do you have any active goals this year you’d like to share?
